Beacon is a small, local technology help service. This page explains what information we collect through this website and app, why we collect it, and how it's used.
What we collect
When you submit a help request, we collect:
- Your name
- A phone number or email address so we can contact you
- Your postcode, so we can confirm you're in an area we currently serve
- Details you choose to give us about the problem (device type, description, urgency)
If you return to the site after submitting a request, your browser stores a small file (a cookie) that lets us recognise you so you don't have to re-enter your details. This cookie only contains a reference to your request record — no password or payment information is ever stored in it.
How we use it
We use your information to:
- Get in touch with you about your request
- Keep a record of the device, issue, and any work carried out, so we can help you effectively
- Let you check the status of your request without re-entering your details
- Send you an update by email if your request's status changes or an appointment is booked (only if you gave us an email address)
Who can see it
Your information is only accessible to the person(s) running Beacon. We don't sell, share, or use it for advertising, and we don't use any third-party analytics or tracking services on this site.
How long we keep it
We keep request records so we have a history if you contact us again in future. If you'd like your information removed, get in touch with us using the contact details you already have for us, and we'll delete it.
Questions
